So there are just a few things on my wishlist that I need, like NOW. I know a lot of other people have made posts on this, so I decided to join the frenzy and provide me Matt Lauer style commentary. (AKA- It sucks and is totally unnecessary and contrived.)
NONE of these are sequels, because I hate reading sequels. It feels like too much work.
5.Alice in Zombieland
Title: Alice in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles #1)
Author: Gena Showalter
Release Date: September 25th, 2012
Publisher: HarlequinTEEN
She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever. Here's a fact: Gena Showalter has written A LOT of adult novels, usually romance. I used to read a lot more adult than YA, so I'm familiar with her work. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the author- SHE'S WRITING YA?? Plus the cover is gorgeous, so I really need a copy for my shelves.
Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.
Her father was right. The monsters are real….
To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….
4.Dualed
Title: Dualed (Dualed #1)Author: Elsie Chapman
Release Date: February 26th, 2013
Publisher: Random House
Would you live through the ultimate test of survival?I know what you're thinking. "What? Another Dystopian? I'm going to kick someone's larynx in if I see another one of these!" But no. The author is fricking awesome on Twitter (I'm serious, go look at her Tweets. She could be one of those trivial accounts you follow just so you can retweet them and look smart.) Plus, the plot seems interesting. I'll be on the lookout for these ARCs.
The city of Kersh is a safe haven, but the price of safety is high. Everyone has a genetic Alternate—a twin raised by another family—and citizens must prove their worth by eliminating their Alts before their twentieth birthday. Survival means advanced schooling, a good job, marriage—life.
Fifteen-year-old West Grayer has trained as a fighter, preparing for the day when her assignment arrives and she will have one month to hunt down and kill her Alt. But then a tragic misstep shakes West’s confidence. Stricken with grief and guilt, she’s no longer certain that she’s the best version of herself, the version worthy of a future. If she is to have any chance of winning, she must stop running not only from her Alt, but also from love . . . though both have the power to destroy her.

BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY...Frick, I don't even know what this is about but I WANT IT. Look at that cover. LOOOK. I will shove it in your face until you see its beauty. Yes, it does look like an instagram photo. But there's a reason Facebook acquired instagram for a billion dollars.
THEY GET EVEN.

Four years ago, Mary left Jar Island because of a boy. But she's not the same girl anymore. And she's ready to prove it to him.

Reminiscent of the movie Sliding Doors, Pivot Point is about a girl who has the power to Search alternate futures. When faced with a life changing decision, she lives out six weeks of two different lives (in alternating chapters), both holding the potential for love and loss, and must ultimately choose which path she is willing to live through. The blurb isn't even finished yet, that's how far away the release date is. But look at this fricking cover. HarperTeen always has really good covers. (Unearthly, Endlessly, etc.)
And my number one pick?
1.Let the Sky Fall
Title: Let the Sky Fall (Let the Sky Fall Series #1)Author: Shannon Messenger
Release Date: March 5th 2013
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Vane Weston should have died in the category five tornado that killed his parents. Instead, he woke up in a pile of rubble with no memories of his past—except one: a beautiful, dark-haired girl standing in the winds. She's swept through his dreams ever since, and he clings to the hope that she's real.A couple reasons:
Audra is real, but she isn't human. She's a sylph, an air elemental who can walk on the wind, translate its alluring songs, even twist it into a weapon. She's also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect him at all costs.
When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra has just days to help Vane unlock his memories. And as the storm winds gather, they start to realize the greatest danger might not be the warriors coming to destroy them, but the forbidden romance growing between them.
Set amongst the desert airstreams of Coachella Valley in California, LET THE SKY FALL is about two teenagers broken by their pasts, divided by their futures, and bound by love.
1. The main character is a boy. (YES. Thank you, YA Goddesses.)
2. THE TITLE. Look at it.
3. THE COVER. Look at it.

ReplyDeleteI'm DYING for Let the Sky Fall!!! I also know how you feel about reading sequels. It does feel like a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteLet the Sky Fall. It looks yummy :""> MOSTLY BECAUSE OF THE MALE PROTAG. SO TRUE ABOUT THE FINALLY PART. As much I'd like to think I'm a feminist, the heroines "kickbutt" voices get tiring as well. So, yay, fresh air!
ReplyDeleteI really REALLY can't wait for Dualed. Story sounds awesome and the cover is fantastic! Let the Sky Fall is also on my pine-for list but I never knew it was told in male POV for some reason...
ReplyDeleteAlice in Zombieland has a gorgeous cover indeed! But I'm a little iffy about this one because I didn't get along with the author's Wicked Nights. >.>
I'm absolutely DYING for Alice in Zombieland also!!
